Your Dream Body and Your Rich Life Go Hand in Hand with Jaime Morocco – Ep 10

How much are your feelings about your body linked to your willingness to strive for success?

Even if you don’t struggle with your weight, most women can point to something about their bodies they wish they could change. Sometimes, it’s fear of failure holding us back. It might be the time commitment or uncertainty about whether we actually deserve the richer life that change could create.

I was so excited to pick Jaime Morocco’s brain this week. The founder of the Dream Body, Dream Life program, Jaime is a fount of wisdom and knowledge when it comes to approaching weight loss from a holistic combination of science, mindset, and energetics. We chatted about the very real connection between feeling at home in your body and realizing your financial success.

Committing to the transformation

In her coaching business, Jaime confronts her clients with a hard truth: if you want to see real change in your body, you need to make that goal the most important thing. Half-assing the journey to your dream life probably isn’t going to work out. Fear of failure, uncertainty that you deserve this…these thoughts and more can make us hesitant to take the leap, but it’s the only way to see results.

One of the things I love about Jaime’s approach is how closely her thoughts align to my own beliefs about manifesting your rich life of financial freedom. In both cases, you don’t have to have it all figured out, you don’t need to be perfect, but you do need to jump in with both feet and really devote yourself to this change.

Questioning our emotional attachments

Another parallel that’s not hard to draw between satisfaction with our bodies and with money is the emotional component. Jaime reframes emotional eating in a way that resonates so deeply with me: she points out that as emotional beings—human beings—we’re always going to have emotional reactions to food.

So much nostalgia and social stigma revolve around this basic necessity, so the goal shouldn’t be to stop these emotions, it should be to figure out why they’re coming up and how you can reframe the situation to feel empowering instead of like self-sabotage.

Likewise, can we stop kicking ourselves for every little money habit, already? Think back to the sacred money archetypes (that’s episode 5, if you missed it! Remember the “celebrity” and the “romantic”?

The fact that these archetypes love luxury isn’t, in and of itself, a bad thing—just like eating the damn brownie isn’t a bad thing—you just need to make sure your splurges still fit into your goals. Curb your crappy guilt, not your appetite!

Commit to your most important goal and accept your emotional attachments. These topics just scrape the surface of all the awesome, empowering stuff Jaime and I get into on the podcast. Cue up episode 10 and pop in your earbuds because believe me: this is one you won’t want to miss!
